Shooting animals in the wild may not quite be the ideal family sport or something that many people would enjoy watching on the T.V. but it is still quite popular among the grey haired in United States of America as well as many parts of Europe. There are many types of hunts but Florida quail hunting is among the top favorites in the United States. Florida quail hunting is a sport in which a hunter shoots quails using a shotgun. During the season, Florida quail hunting brings in a lot of cash influx in an otherwise slow and silent rural economy. Unlike other sports, Florida quail hunting is not covered by the media which means peaceful time out making it a perfect holiday getaway for those working late hours day in and day out. Florida quail hunting was quite an invisible sport away from the media scrutiny until the Dick Cheney incident. In 2006, an unforeseen celebrity accident, an unsuspecting Texas attorney was shot by the U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney.
Florida quail hunting is a classified as a part of upland hunting among other forms. Shooting might qualify as one of the favorite American pass time but Florida quail hunting may require a license in some states. Licenses are issued with general classification, like small game hunting which includes small animals such as rabbits, ducks, quails and other birds. The law in each state is different from the law in the other states so makes sure to check the law in your state on the same before you decide to join the hunters in the wild. Do not avoid any safety measures or rules that have been put in place for your own security or you might end up being another Cheney! The attorney, Harry Whittington was reportedly hit by around two hundred pellets from the shot.
Common sense should be applied before and while taking a shot outdoors for your own and any unsuspecting stranger's security, not to mention the importance of following the Florida quail hunting rules which are in place for your own security. The shooter is responsible for his own safety and the safety of others or there may be severe legal consequences as negligent shooting incidents are not taken lightly by American courts. Hunters also have to always wear a safety gear which is orange in color for high visibility and not to consume alcohol during the sport or in other words, not to shoot when under the influence of alcohol.
Among the most important things you will need to take with you is the right dog and the right gun. While gun is more of a personal choice of the shooter, the dogs can be narrowed down to two breeds for Florida quail hunting. The American Water Spaniel and the Beagle are both more than just suitable for the task, good luck shooting.
